graduation

I’m starting to take care of all this nonsense I need to get done for graduation. It seems early, to me, to be starting on this, but everyone else at this school seems to think I’m running behind. So far I’ve filled out the graduation audit request, and I completed the FIT exam. That test is a joke. The examiner spent more time explaining how the exam works than I actually spent completing it. Besides, are there really any college students these days who don’t know how to use a computer? I would think that taking coding classes sufficiently proves I am computer-literate. I might also be complaining right now about this U.S. pluralism graduation requirement, except that it turns out I’m actually learning some cool stuff from the course I picked. Not that the instructor is especially interesting, but the books he’s having us read are great.

I still don’t know what I’m going to be doing after graduation… I feel like I should’ve had 3+ internships by this point, not just the one. I just made arrangements to take a copy editing exam so I can apply for an internship with the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund. It’s not likely I’ll get it, but I just thought I’d try anyway. I have an unnatural love of grammar, so I think I would really enjoy copy editing. I wonder if you can get a copy editing job without any previous experience…you probably just have to take an exam, kind of like this one. So I guess this will be good practice, even if I don’t end up doing the internship.
