social web
I gotta say, I’m really skeptical of this Twitter nonsense. After doing all those readings for class, I felt I had to finally get on the site and check it out. So far I’m just annoyed. I’ve only got 3 friends on there, and I’m already annoyed at the number of messages they’re sending out. It just seems a bit conceited to think that people really care about every minute detail of what you’re doing. I think I already get my fill of that kind of stuff from Facebook. Maybe one social networking site is enough for me…
I used to have a MySpace, before Facebook came along. I ended up deleting the account about a month ago, because I was rarely getting comments on it anymore. Facebook seems to be replacing MySpace more and more now. I was rooting for MySpace in the beginning… I like how you can get in and edit the layout of the page. There is something appealing about the uniformity of Facebook as well, though. You don’t have to worry about crazy flashing backgrounds or impossible to read text.
Some of the Facebook apps really bother me though. Virtual zombie bites don’t really amuse me at all. And sometimes people just go way over the top with the number of apps on their page. If I have to scroll for more than like 3 seconds to find your wall, I’m outta there. No more comments for you. I think with the apps, you gotta remember that less is more. They’re more fun when you just pick out a handful of really good ones, instead of making your friends dig through a bunch of useless clutter.
